St Paul's Trust's 'Liverpool Trinity' Discovery Project is based in the Liverpool docks and uses two boats as the basis for spiritual reflection and the development of life skills for men of all ages.

One larger and static ship 'Loach' is the venue for a range of activities from sport, drama, music and a typical 'youth club' as well as providing sleeping accommodation in hammocks and washing facilities. The other smaller boat 'Trinity', a converted 40ft fishing vessel will be used to enable participants to take part in self-discovery, fishing, learning nautical and practical skills on the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay, and take part in reflection on these experiences.

A key element to the project is the provision of space for quiet, self-discovery, the opportunity to learn about working with others, space to overcome problems and opportunities to consider the 'wow factor' of the created world. The project will also encourage team-working skills for example in boat handling. It is hoped that these activities will see new relationships formed and lives shared.

The 'Discovery Project' looks to embrace the pursuit of spirituality with participants considering the creative intelligence behind the elements and the exploration of new qualities about themselves as an individual and in relationship to others in a team. This reflects the concept of 'relational consciousness' as proposed by Rebecca Nye and David Hay in 'The Spirit of the Child.' (1998)

Currently both vessels are being refitted and prepared for the 2009 programme which will be launched in the spring. The project is available for church groups, school groups, youth groups, men's groups and those who wish to learn nautical skills. Ruth Wills of the IACS is working alongside this project to develop and educational and spiritual programme.
