Children and Worldviews: Bradley's story

The Children and Worldviews Project explores qualitative, narrative methods to investigate the worldviews of children, that is, the way in which they make sense of their experiences and matters which are of particular importance to them.

Bradley's story

This estate is fine because there is a playground, trees to climb and thousands of mates to play with. Not all my friends live on the estate. My brother doesn't, he lives up in Scotland. I've got a long way to go and see him, I normally see him twice a year in Scotland.

I like playing on the swings in the park. It feels like a rocket going backwards and forwards up on the air. I like playing on the trees as well. The swings are different if you shut your eyes. If you shut your eyes on the swing it feels scary. Its black and it looks like you're in space. Sometimes it feels like I'm going to Scotland on my swing - whoosh! And then when I get to Scotland I'm going to look for my brother.

When I'm in a special place I like to think of special people, even though they're not there, like I think of my brother in Scotland, even though he's not there. I miss my Dad. My Mum married again because he's too busy with someone. I've another Dad called Steve. My Mum and Dad fight. I live with my Mum and Steve cos my Dad chucked my Mum on the floor head first.

I liked your story. I have got a puppy. My puppy's name is Bella. Have you got any other pet's? When Bella want's to play she snugles up to my leg's and jump's up to me and lick's my face. When she snugles up to me it feels nice. I like playing POKEMON with my best mate James:W. I am six years old.

How old are you? Do you have any pets? Do you like your brother a lot? It sounds like you do. It sounds like you miss your brother a lot. How old is your brother? My brother is nine. I like my brother sometimes like when he's nice to me, like when he lets me play with him. We play with his cars.I get annoyed with my brother when he throws me around and hurts me. I think I would still miss him if he didn't live with me. My name is Joseph.
